- Getting Started: You can book your session immediately or reach out through a standard inquiry. Some clients like to secure their session early and keep things simple, while others want to talk through ideas or timing first. Both options are available.
- Getting to Know You (As Much as You’d Like): My goal with your vacation photography in Charleston, SC, is to capture your family as you actually are. I take time to learn about your dynamic, personalities, and what this trip means to you so your photos reflect more than just where you were. Whether that happens through a call or a few thoughtful questions, the result is images that feel personal and true to your family.
- Session Prep: You’ll receive clear guidance on what to expect, along with recommendations for timing and locations that work well during your stay. I’m always available for questions, but the process is designed to stay easy and low-stress.
- Final Check-In: A few days before your vacation photo session I'll check in to make sure everything is ready to go - including the weather! Life throws curveballs, I get it. If something pops up unexpectedly, no worries. We will adjust what we need to.
- Your Session: Sessions are relaxed, natural, and designed to fit seamlessly into your vacation. I’ll offer gentle guidance when helpful and let moments unfold naturally, focusing on connection rather than stiff posing during your vacation photoshoot in Charleston, SC!
- Image Premiere: About three weeks after your session, your full gallery will be ready. All final images are included for you to download and enjoy. From there, you’re welcome to select favorites if you’d like to create an album or prints.
- Album Design (Optional): Vacations go by fast, and albums are the easiest way to relive them long after the bags are unpacked. I offer custom album design that brings your images together into a cohesive story, so your trip doesn’t live only on a hard drive. I’ll handle the layout and flow, and you’ll have the chance to review and refine it before it’s finalized.

Vacation Story clients receive two "story" sessions, aligned with their vacation itinerary, and may add as many additional sessions à la carte as desired. They receive a discount on each additional session fee, priority booking, plus concierge itinerary consulting. At the end of the vacation the "story" is told in a beautiful, heirloom album.

We have a big family, can everyone be included?"
Yes, vacation sessions are designed to include everyone, whether you're a family of 3 or a family of 15. If your group is larger than 15 just get in touch and we will discuss session and timing options.

How do we deal with rain?
Charleston (especially in the summertime) can be quite rainy, but thankfully the rain doesn't usually last very long. Generally we're able to shift session time by 30-60 minutes to avoid rain, we will make this call as close to your session time as possible to be accurate (usually 12 - 24 hours in advance). If necessary we will reschedule, as long as dates are available.

What should I/we wear for our photos?
Once you've scheduled your sessions you'll receive a styling guide for basic styling guidance. I've also partnered with a professional stylist, so we can add styling services to your chosen session at any time. Please contact me for further styling information.
I do always suggest simple and timeless wardrobe choices. It's always a good choice to avoid clothing with logos or distracting patterns, as well as very bright colors (they can cause a color cast on faces/skin). Go with light colors and patterns, and pieces that are comfortable to move around in. Always think coordinating, not matching.

Typically sessions are booked between 4 - 6 months before your vacation. Availability varies depending on the season, and is most limited during the summer and fall months. Last-minute session dates may be booked based on availability.
