Every wedding and elopement is beautiful, and most are pretty emotional…but Joan and David’s was different. The plan was to come to Hilton Head Island from Washington DC and elope, but about a month before the set date David called me to say they couldn’t make it. Their family had multiple health emergencies, and it was just impossible.
I saved the date anyway.
A week before the original elopement date Joan messaged me. They’d decided to come down last minute. Y’all, it was a perfect day. Just the two of them, the officiant, and myself. We walked the beach for some portraits first, and were escorted by dolphins, and then their ceremony was underneath giant live oaks.
Joan surprised David with a white gown and veil – and David surprised Joan with a beautiful ring! (they’d decided not to exchange rings until next summer).
These two were made for each other, and – thank God – finally found their way to each other forever.
