I have fond memories of our family vacations while growing up. Whether it’s the few photos my mom managed to capture (often featuring my sisters with swimsuits and diapers sticking out) or the foggy recollections that linger from the stories we’ve shared over the years. Family vacations are where countless core memories are made, so why not document them? As a photographer, I may be biased, but when you’re all in one place with no work or school schedules to juggle, it’s the perfect opportunity for family photos.
Recently, I had the privilege of accompanying the M family, dear friends of mine, on their recent beach trip to the beautiful Isle of Palms. (Spoiler alert, we actually had TWO family sessions! I’m only sharing the first one now)
This first session focused on capturing the intimate moments of the M family of three. It was (finally) a warm, beautiful evening to spend at the Isle of Palms Beach. We’d rescheduled a couple of times before since the weather hadn’t been cooperating (y’all, I’m tough but when it’s 30 degrees at the beach I might suggest a reschedule). We had warm, golden light from the sun, and the quiet rhythm of the waves provided a soothing soundtrack, harmonizing with the laughter of their son.
Family vacations hold a special place in our hearts, filled with moments we never want to forget. Through the art of photography, we have the power to freeze these fleeting moments and transform them into lasting memories.
Shameless plug: by entrusting your family’s vacation memories to a professional photographer in Charleston, like myself, you can ensure that every laugh, smile, and embrace is captured authentically. We are preservationists. Our job is to see your connection with each other and capture it in it’s subtle intimacy. Together, we create a visual narrative that tells your unique story of love, connection, and the joy of being together.
